Sustainability
Products with an Eye on the Future
Micro represents products that are not only innovative and practical but also designed with respect for the planet. Sustainability plays a central role throughout the process: from design to production and the product lifecycle. Micro carefully selects materials that minimise environmental impact and ensures that products are rigorously tested for quality and longevity. By collaborating with responsible, established suppliers and adhering to strict quality standards, Micro offers products that are beneficial both for consumers and for the Earth.
Smart Production, Green Future
During the production process, careful attention is paid to material use (type and quantity) and the manufacturing techniques employed. Eco-friendly alternatives, such as recycled materials, are chosen wherever possible. Additionally, Micro Mobility continuously works on optimising the production process to reduce energy consumption, waste, and CO² emissions. In collaboration with manufacturers, cleaner and more efficient techniques are developed. An example of this is the Solar Power Generation System, which has been in use since 2021, along with a zero-waste policy to ensure that no resources are wasted. In this way, Micro combines both quality and sustainability in every product.
From Sustainable Design to Long-term Use
At Micro, sustainability is not just about creating high-quality products; it is also about extending their lifespan. With a unique repair and spare parts service, all components of the mobility products are available for at least 10 years after purchase. This allows products to be used for a longer period, contributing to waste reduction. This has a positive impact on the future of our planet.
From Fishing Nets to Scooters
Micro Mobility's Eco line is made from recycled fishing gear, such as nets and ropes. Each year, approximately 640,000 tonnes of fishing equipment ends up in the oceans. Micro addresses this issue by collecting old nets directly from fishermen, recycling the material, and using it to produce sustainable products like scooters and skates.
Additionally, Micro donates 1% of the sales from the Eco line to environmental organisations. Through the "1% for the Planet" initiative, Micro contributes to worthy causes. Part of these donations goes to Right To Play, an initiative with the mission to protect, educate, and empower children to rise above adversity through play.
Sustainability as a Journey
Micro believes that sustainability is a constant evolution, in which they are always striving for further improvement across all processes. As founder Wim Oudboter states:
"We understand that perfection is a journey, not a destination. But we are confident that we are on the right track, and we strive every day to be better."
